Independent Living
At the crest of a wooded hillside on the grounds of Sacred Heart Monastery lies Benedictine Manor, a retirement residence for independent senior adults. This active, vibrant community was founded in 1983 as a corporate ministry of the Benedictine Sisters of Cullman, Alabama. The founding Sisters sought to meet the needs of retired adults who desired the independence and comforts of their own home, yet freedom from the burdens of home-ownership. For over 25 years, men and women of many different backgrounds and faiths have found a comfortable home and a friendly, caring community at the Manor.

Benedictine Manor offers a unique balance of gracious, independent living with opportunities for friendly companionship within a caring, Christian environment. Moderate fees place living at the Manor within the reach of many. A single monthly charge includes three meals daily, general maintenance, bi-weekly cleaning, and all utilities except private telephone and internet service.

Scheduled recreational, religious, and social activities are made available by staff. With an hour's drive, residents may reach additional cultural and entertainment activities in either Birmingham or Huntsville.
