These designations help everyone have the best possible interactions with residents as they are in the present. It is an especially useful tool so family members can understand how to approach and interact when their loved one is acting in unfamiliar ways. The Care Flower system consciously avoids negative language or overtones throughout the residence.
Residents are identified as a rose, daisy, iris, violet, or morning glory based on their unique characteristics, preferences and abilities. This approach is centered on every individual’s abilities, emotions and cognitive capacities—not their impairments or disease.
