Haven Custom Homes, a leader in the construction of custom modular homes, in conjunction with Sanctuary Communities, have completed their first NC HealthyBuilt Home, The Quarters.
The Quarters home, designed by Allison Ramsey Architects, features a broad front porch with bungalow charm. The two-story home is spacious with 2,113 square feet and features three bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths, a walk-out basement and an elevator. The home is located in Sanctuary Village which is the first in-town Traditional Neighborhood Development in the western mountains of North Carolina and will include 150 residences when complete. The neighborhood is designed to reflect neighborhoods of America's past and be a walkable, mixed-use village when completed.
The home, certified to Energy Star and NC HealthyBuilt Homes of Greater Asheville, includes a number of important beneficial features for homeowners. These benefits include increased energy efficiency which lowers utility bills for heating and cooling, lower water bills by using high efficiency irrigation and plumbing fixtures, improved indoor air quality and a low maintenance home using durable, local and recycled content materials.
Built in Haven's controlled indoor production facility allowed for several green building advantages over traditional site-built construction. As the homes are built from the inside out, the materials are protected from the weather reducing the risk of moisture and mold thus creating a tighter building envelope, increased air quality and more energy efficient. The home was delivered to the site Energy Star ready and nearly 80 percent complete.
At Haven building green is sound building science. The techniques used in green building employ good building practices and improved materials. The results are homes that can reduce energy consumption and waste while enhancing homeowners' quality of life by improving comfort and air quality.
"We believe in creating homes that are healthy for homeowners - and that includes creating a home that is energy efficient, free of harmful outdoor elements and built with only the most durable materials," said Jerry Smalley, CEO and president of Haven Custom Homes.
